Rotorua tourism workers to retrain at local Polytech

From Midday Report, 12:42 pm on 25 June 2020

Nervousness at the border and uncertainty over the much hoped-for Trans-Tasman travel bubble have put the tourism industry in an even more perilous position.

One Rotorua operator has struck a deal with a local polytechnic to offer retraining to all of its employees as a way of improving their prospects.

All 110 employees of Tamaki Maori Village will be offered training at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology under the agreement.

The chair of the Tauhara North No.2 Trust, Ngahihi Bidois spoke to Māni Dunlop about the scheme.
