Forest and Bird says multiple Canterbury councils are reporting high readings of pollution in public drinking water that could be linked to cancer.

The organisation says the data - obtained through the Official Information Act - shows Selwyn, Ashburton, Timaru, and Waitaki are all areas of concern.
