A community worker says the government relief payments announced yesterday further stigmatises beneficiaries and sends a message that those on the jobseeker are not worthy.
The Government has created a 12-week Covid-19 unemployment benefit that - at 490-dollars-a-week - is roughly double the regular jobseeker benefit.
Barney Wikitera-Kuki is a community worker in South Auckland and told Māni Dunlop, it was distressing yesterday when he heard the relief payment announcements.
