A first of its kind mapping resource has just been launched, which will help iwi unlock and prioritise conservation projects.
The Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research resource will allow people to see geospatial layers of landcover, vegetation, and rivers, and help in identifying wahi tapu.
It came as a response from iwi who asked for a one stop shop to start capturing iwi-specific matauranga.
Its arrival is timely – with the government announcing more than $1-billion for an environmental jobs package in last weeks budget, expected to create almost 11,000 jobs.
