Classic Concert:
John Martyn - Live at Leeds
Scots born John Martyn, who died a year ago this month aged 60, blended folk blues and jazz with the assistance of the 'echoplex' guitar effect that allowed him to loop and play back and with his own guitar sound. This intimate recording from 1975 was originally sold by Martyn as mail order only and features former Pentangle acoustic bass player Danny Thompson. The repetoire ranges from the straight ahead acoustic version of "Bless The Weather", through the classic song "Solid Air" to his complete reworking of Skip James' blues "I'd Rather Be The Devil".
