Classic Concert:

Tony Bennett at Carnegie Hall

Recorded in June 1962, this classic concert featured Bennett backed by Ralph Sharon and His Orchestra consisting of New York's finest players at the time, with a repertoire from the Great American Songbook. Breaking out of the nightclub circuit on to the huge Carnegie Hall stage was a great leap for the 36 year old who had a string of pop hits in the mid 1950s and was working at re-establishing his career as a "serious" singer and interpreter of song. He triumphed. (Columbia)
