Dr Rangi Matamua, Maori should be 'once were gardeners'

Te Wharekura o Mauao in Tauranga hosted Professor Rangi Matamua recently. Last year was the first time New Zealand celebrated Matariki with a public holiday, due mainly to the work and drive of the man who is now New Zealander of the year. Professor Mataamua spent more days on the road sharing his knowledge about Matariki than being at home with his family. 42 weeks on the road last year!
