12:12  200th anniversary of the siege of Mātakitaki Pa

In 1822 about 3000 Ngapuhi warriors laid siege to Mātakitaki Pa in Waikato. Ngapuhi were armed with muskets which many Waikato Maori had never encountered before. Historian Dr Tom Roa recounts the events of 1822 and provides vital insights and context for what happened before, during and after the siege.
