12:13 Wi Pere Mita on 50 years of Te Matatini Kapa Haka

To celebrate fifty years of kapa haka the TM50 Project is being launched which will include an album featuring 50 waiata since 1972 from the Maori Performing Arts Festival, Te Matatini. A book and visual content will also be available from later this week. Wi Pere Mita is the head of operations for Te Matatini and he looks back at the rich history of the world's greatest kapa haka event and it's prospects for the future.

12:28 Workforce burnout among Maori has 'skyrocketed'

Maori academic Professor Jarrod Haar, from the Auckland University of Technology has done research into the benefits of the four day working week but he's also spent the past two years tracking the New Zealand workforce during the pandemic. His ongoing study paints a picture of workers who are anxious and burnt out. He says his research since last November shows burn out amongst Maori has 'skyrocketed'.

12:45 Tokomanawa Queens co-owner says new league will bring profound change

Basketball New Zealand is launching a new women's basketball league featuring five regional teams. One of them is the Tokomanawa Queens covering the central North Island. Rachel Taulelei is one of the owners of the Queens and says the league will change the game in profound ways in Aotearoa allowing New Zealanders to compete at the elite level and top foreign players to contribute.
