Authors protest National Library book disposal in Wellington

From Lately, 10:40 pm on 11 November 2021

We recently reported the National Library had entered into a contract with an Amercian company Internet Archive who will digitise two thirds of the 600,000 books the National Libary plan to dispose of. Earlier this evening in Wellington at St Peter's Church in Willis Street, a group of authors and like minded people banded together to form Book Guardians Aotearoa and protested the Library's actions. The group includes Professor Dolores Janiewski; a specialist in American History, poet and musician Bill Direen who organised the protest and poet and university lecturer Harry Ricketts.
