Science: Diagnosing concussion from saliva

From Lately, 10:42 pm on 29 March 2021

Research from the University of Birmingham has found a way to test for concussion in rugby players's saliva. The study, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, has major implications for something that has previously been difficult to accurately diagnose.   It shows almost instant results from markers called non-coding RNAs which show up in the saliva. So will it mean the days of mis-diagnosis are over and will it become widely used where concussion is suspected. Susana Leuitaua speaks to one of the researchers, Dr Pa

trick O'Halloran from the University of Birmingham.
