From Lately, 10:39 pm on 6 August 2020

The 1985 NBL Final is one of the most memorable games in New Zealand basketball. Wellington Exchequer Saints and Auckland were set to face off against each other for the third straight year, and the game was televised live as many expected Auckland to revenge their 1984 defeat.

After being sent into overtime, Saints legend Kenny McFadden went on to shoot a three-point shot on the buzzer to claim a 114-111 win and take the championship.

John Saker was a forward for the 1985 Saints, and recalls the hype and excitement surrounding the game.
