Renters rights get stronger

One third of New Zealanders rent their homes and the law governing tenancies has just been updated under urgency to make it fit for modern renting situations. Changes to the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 include banning rental bidding and 90-day no-cause terminations, as well as changing the period for rental increases to 12 months.
