From Lately, 10:32 pm on 6 July 2020

A high powered investigation is to begin into the breach of privacy for 18 people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last week.

Last week personal information about the 18 people - including the people's names, addresses, ages and location where they were under quarantine was leaked to three media outlets including RNZ. Today it was announced the inquiry will be headed by Michael Heron QC and it will be completed within three weeks.

Associate Professor of Information Privacy Law from University of Auckland, Gehan Gunasekara, joins Karyn to explain why this is significant.
