Ihumatao SOUL's Pania Newton

From Lately, 10:18 pm on 26 July 2019

It's the fourth night of the stand-off at Ihumātao where more than 500 people have gathered to support the Save Our Unique Landscape group SOUL and protest plans by Fletcher Building to build 480 new homes on the land that is recognised for its historical, cultural, and archaeological significance.

SOUL wants Ihumātao to remain an open space or be returned to mana whenua. One of SOUL's founders, Pania Newton, speaks with Karyn from Ihumātao, as they prepare for the weekend.
