Last night on Lately the news that Timaru Oil Services had withdrawn a consent application to build tanks near a marae in Mt Maunganui was discussed. Whareroa Marae has been calling for industry to move out of the area it is located in and had opposed Timaru Oil Services building the tanks to store fuel. Clear the Air - Mt Maunganui is a community led group that's also been outspoken about the amount of pollution industry in the area is causing, and how that might affect the air near schools and parks.
