Around the country, the impact of this extremely dry long summer is reflected in the drought conditions already declared or about to be declared, and the number of areas with a total fire ban.

In the Waikato town of Te Awamutu volunteer firefighters are frustrated at the disregard for the fire restrictions in place despite there being a total fire ban in place in the Waipa district as well as severe water restrictions in place.

10:30 Inside Italy's coronavirus prevention zone

The whole of Italy has been put on lockdown as their government tries to gain control of the spread of the coronavirus, Covid-19.

Italians are facing a new daily life with a curfew, travel restrictions and enforced space between people in public spaces as the country reports more than 9-thousand cases of Covid-19 and more than 630 deaths.
