The new fishing year for snapper in Bay of Plenty, Hauraki Gulf and east Northland starts on the 1st of October and brings with it changes for both recreational and commercial fishers.

But how many snapper are there in this valuable inshore fishery, known as Snapper 1, and will the recently announced regulations lead to more fish in the longer term?
