Gay Cavill was in Greymouth as the Pike River mine tragedy unfolded last November.

She has gone back to the coast to guage how families and the community are coping.

For most of the families, there is still no closure with many still desperate to recover the remains of their loved ones.

But the community at large has started to move on and Grey district Mayor says the area is on the cusp of a boom.
