Four Regional Parks of Auckland

David Steemson visits Tawhitokino, Awhitu, Duder and Scandrett parks

David visited:

Tawhitokino park, south of Auckland city, accessible only on foot via coastal hills and a beach, but definitely not at high tide.

Awhitu park on the southern coast of the Manukau Harbour. 125-hectares of it include a golf course and a farm, camping grounds and a restored wetland.

The Duder Regional farm park, 50 kilometres south of Auckland city and accessible only on foot from a distant car park.

Scandrett's park on the northern coast of the Hauraki Gulf about an hour's drive from the Auckland CBD. The seaside land was farmed by the Scandrett family since 1864, but sold to the ARC in 1999.
