Male-dominated networking events deter women financial advisors

A study has found the barriers to women becoming financial advisors include feeling uncomfortable at networking events centred on alcohol and dominated by men. Otago University researchers together with a team at RMIT University in Melbourne looked at reasons why few women become mortgage, insurance or investment advisors. In New Zealand, they make up just 24 percent of professionals, and in Australia, 20 percent. Kim Savage speakrs to Otago University researcher Helen King.
