Covid-19 cases continue to surge across Sydney, with the state reporting 109 more cases in the last 24 hours. Many patients have been admitted to hospital where some have been transferred to ICU. Sydney Morning Herald photo journalist Kate Geraghty was given special permission to enter one of Sydney's intensive care units located at St Vincent's Hospital. She photographed severely ill patients there who are being treated for the Delta variant, many needing ventilators to breath. Our reporter Ella Stewart spoke with Kate Geraghty, about what she saw in the ICU.
