Hydro scheme for Lake Onslow doesn't make sense
The Sustainable Energy Forum says investigating a hydro scheme in an Otago lake doesn't make much sense. The government has announced a 30-million-dollar investigation into options which would make the country run on 100 per cent renewable energy. It includes a hydro facility at Lake Onslow which would be used to generate electricity if there is an irregular supply of renewable energy sources such as wind. Sustainable Energy Forum spokesman, Steve Goldthorpe told our reporter Sally Murphy if the project went ahead the cost per use of the facility would be extremely high.
