Landscape astro photographer, Tom Rae, has won the Royal Museums Greenwich Skyscapes Astronomy Photographer of the Year for a second time.

Based in Canterbury, the 20-year-old's stunning winning image, The Ridge, is 62 images stitched together and was taken after spending time beneath the night skies and amidst alpine environments of the South Island.

Tom has always had a fascination with astronomy and started using a camera at the age of 13, back in 2018, and fell in love with digital art.

He's also worked as a night-sky guide and teacher in Aoraki, Mt Cook for 18 months which honed his own skills and portfolio in the process. His work has been published all over the world including National Geographic, The Guardian, NASA and Forbes.
