From Slaughterer to Saviour

Every winter, for four weeks, former commercial whalers now work with the Conservation Department to survey whale numbers in the Cook Strait. They hope their findings will help support New Zealand's anti whaling stance. From dawn 'til dusk they sit in a wee hut high above the entrance to the Tory Channel, waiting to spy a mighty humpback, and call"there she blows".
