Serena Lyders (Ngāti Porou) comes from a long line of shearing royalty, on both sides of her family.

She worked in the industry herself, before training to become a bilingual primary teacher and later a social worker.

These days, she's helping shearers all around the motu, drawing on her varied experiences and passion for rural communities as a traditional Māori healer.

It's not just finding better ways to help their bodies cope with the physically demanding work but also about "soul healing" and growing people's understanding of Te Ao Māori.
