The winter crop of vegetables growing at Dominique Schacherer and Logan Kerr's market garden has turned 25 hectares of fertile earth into a sea of leafy greens. They had been leasing the land near Leeston in Mid-Canterbury but have recently to purchased it. Owning the land means the young farmers can finally plan beyond the next season and grow high-value perennial flowering plants like asparagus, raspberries and strawberries.
