Rosemary Freeman is switching her AgResearch technician job for an apple picking role until the country moves out of Covid19 restrictions.  She says it's a relaxing job, there are no phone calls, the birds are singing and you feel productive.  Each full apple bag weighs 18kgs and Rosemary says she's finding muscles she didn't know she had.
The pay is better in the orchard too.
However once she can return to AgResearch she's keen to look into the state of cow's teeth.  Only three studies have been done world wide and they all said more research is needed.  Ms Freeman says if a cow has a sore mouth it could impact on her eating and general health which in turn impacts on how long a cow may remain in a commercial herd.
