Farmers in drought stricken areas will be hanging out for the forecast rain this Easter weekend after months of looking out on parched pastures.

There's now an 0800 number they can call for support around feeding their stock.

We put in a call ourselves to agribusiness consultant James Allen who's been working with the Ministry of Primary Industries to get the hotline up and running.

The 0800 number for beef and sheep farmers is 0800 BEEFLAMB (0800 233 352)

Dairy farmers can call 0800 4 DAIRYNZ (0800 4 324 7969).
