The Maori Council has told the Waitangi Tribunal that it is not for the Crown to make decisions about legislation which governs the council; Te Whanau a Apanui wants to align the education systems at three of its Bay of Plenty schools and have only one Board of Trustees for them all; The Minister of Maori Affairs, Pita Sharples, wants appointments to the boards of the Maori Language Commission and the Maori Broadcasting Funding Agency to be made by tribes - not the Government; Labour's leader, David Cunliffe, and Ngati Kahungunu have been holdings discussions about regional matters including the Ruataniwha dam.
