The Crown and a Waikato iwi have signed a Deed of Settlement that includes three-million-dollars in financial and commercial redress; The Chairman of Ngati Kahungunu says the knowledge gained by the crew of the iwi's waka Te Matau A Maui which returned home today to Napier, can be put to good use in Hawke's Bay; Te Matatini Society which hosts the national kapa haka festival, wants to see a 26 tonne carved mahau or porch front which will be unveiled at the 2013 competitions in Rotorua, used at other venues to showcase New Zealand's culture.
