A Ngati Tuwharetoa hapu says its evacuation plan, which was put into action following last night's Mt Tongariro eruption, worked successfully; Meanwhile, the person in charge of opening the doors to Hirangi Marae, says the pa was ready for evacuees about a half an hour after the eruption, with a register set out for people to sign in and beds already made up; The Northern Kaipara sub tribe Te Uri o Hau, has signed a new memorandum of understanding with the Northland Regional Council; The Corrections Department has abandoned the idea of doubling the number of beds at its rehabilitation and re-integration unit for Maori prisoners in Hawke's Bay.
