A research study about news coverage of tangata whenua, has found that mainstream news organisations rarely cover Maori topics, unless they're about violence and crime; Maori Television which was set up in 2004 to help promote and revitalise Te Reo Maori, doesn't plan to broadcast full immersion Maori language programmes during prime time; Four Auckland Maori health organisations will make a combined submission on the Customs and Excise Amendment Bill via a tele-conference call, rather than having to make separate submissions in person in Wellington.
