The Tauranga iwi, Ngati Ranginui, has signed its Treaty settlement with the Crown, in a ceremony attended by the Maori King and Government Ministers; The body overseeing the fishing quota owned by Maori is questioning how practical it will be to re-flag foreign charter fishing vessels that are only in New Zealand waters for short periods; The co-leader of the Maori Party, Tariana Turia is calling for all New Zealanders to recognise Matariki as part of their national identity; Meanwhile, Maori Tourism says Matariki is an ideal time for everyone come together and celebrate.
