Auckland's mayor is proposing to sell council assets to fund the rising costs of running the city, and put the brakes on rates rises.
Wayne Brown wants the money to go into a $3-4 billion fund that would also make provisions for climate change risks.
But opponents to the proposal are calling it asset stripping, and a generational sale.
