Govt unveils $3b Emissions Reduction Plan, focus on transport

The government has unveiled it's first Emissions Reduction Plan of $2.9 billion, with a focus on transport.

The sector is one of the largest sources of emissions in New Zealand - making up 17 percent of total greenhouse gases.

Over the next four years, more than a billion dollars will be spent on increasing electric vehicle uptake, cycleways and improving public transport.

Congestion charges in Auckland and Wellington are on the cards too.
