Shorter isolation times and less intensive contact tracing is on the horizon. New Zealand will step into phase two of the Omicron response, from Wednesday.
The shift has just been announced after another steep rise in Covid-19 cases. There were 981 recorded in the community today.
As well as that, nearly 5,000 people in the community are now known to have the virus and there are warnings the true total could be as high as 50,000.
