The Rhythm and Vines festival has hit a sour note with local iwi who are calling for the festival to be canned due to Covid concerns.
The festival, that usually kicks off on the 28 December is already hanging in the balance with Gisborne District on red until at least the middle of next month.
Regardless, a collective of local iwi believe the threat posed by 25,000 people pouring into region for the three day festival is simply too high.
