More than 1400 Covid-positive people are home isolating in the northern region and they're being urged to dial 111 without hesitation if their condition deteriorates.

It follows several deaths of people while isolating at home, though the causes of death are yet to be determined.

Questions have been raised about the effectiveness of the health checks and equipment used to monitor oxygen levels in the blood.

Margie Apa leads the Northern Region Health Co-ordination centre that is overseeing positive cases at home.

Apa told Lisa Owen all those who have died while in isolation have been under the organisation’s care.

“At the moment all people getting SIQ support are under our regional model of care.

“If they were in our isolation service they all happened under our care.”
