Taupō mayor welcomes news of Auckland border reopening

From Checkpoint, 6:10 pm on 17 November 2021

Aucklanders will be free to leave the city on December 15, provided they're fully vaccinated, or have had a negative test within 72 hours of leaving.

Taupō Mayor David Trewavas told Checkpoint the announcement of Auckland reopening is “very good news”.

“The time is about right. Certainly as the Prime Minister said, could have been earlier, could have been later.”

“We would certainly welcome everyone with open arms,” as long as they’re vaccinated and tested, he said.
