Māngere family's lucky escape from 'mistaken identity' house shooting

From Checkpoint, 5:24 pm on 4 November 2021

A family has managed to escape unharmed after at least 20 bullets were shot at their house in the dead of night.

Police say it is a very serious case of mistaken identity - but miraculously - the family inside were all uninjured.

A witness says it is a scary development on his normally quiet street.

In a statement, the Police Minister Poto Williams says the Firearms Prohibition Orders legislation will be introduced to the House before the end of the year.

She says that will strengthen the actions the government's taking to combat the influence of gangs and organised crime.

Jordan Bond and camera operator Marika Khabazi have the story.
