Some tourism operators fear they are kissing another summer of international business goodbye after yesterday's MIQ announcement.
Come mid-November double vaccinated NZ returnees will spend seven days, instead of the current 14, in MIQ before heading to home isolation for a further three days and a final Covid test before being freed.
The government has also signalled a phased move to more home isolation in the first quarter of next year.
But at this stage it is basically for New Zealanders coming home, there's no date for international tourists to return and one of the biggest domestic markets, Auckland is penned in.
