Just two days after its level 3 lockdown lifted, Northland has recorded two new cases of Covid - with the possibility of a third.
The Ministry of Health says the two cases are contacts of a recently diagnosed case in Auckland and aren't linked to the earlier reported cases who visited Northland.
A Whangārei pub has reported a third case although this has yet to be confirmed.
Ngāti Hine Health Trust chief executive Geoff Milner tells Nita Blake-Persen he understands that case is "working through the system".
"We were updated by the DHB on that particular case. It's much earlier in the process than the two whānau in the mid-north, but we're bracing ourselves that that is the third case in Northland."
