Community leaders fear lockdown's long-term impact on families

The lengthy Auckland lockdown is making it even harder to address truancy - with growing concern some children will disappear from education entirely.

School principals have told Checkpoint as few as 40 percent of their students are engaging with online learning - saying access to devices and and lack of internet access is an issue.

Organisations like Waipareira Trust help schools, whānau and rangatahi deal with truancy problems.
