Govt to roll out rapid Covid-19 antigen testing after delay

From Checkpoint, 6:18 pm on 7 October 2021

The government has announced a rapid antigen testing pilot for Covid-19 among private companies, but can offer little detail on how it will work.

It follows a request from 25 of some of the country's largest companies, who want to jointly import 370,000 tests to have in worksites in the next week.

It's hoped the testing would could help with people self-isolating at home in the future and also reduce the time travellers would need to spend in MIQ.

But as our political reporter Charlie Dreaver reports, National says the lack of detail shows the government has no plan of its own.
