Govt announces Māori Health Authority leaders

From Checkpoint, 6:23 pm on 23 September 2021

The government has announced who will lead the Māori Health Authority, which it hopes will address the staggering inequites Māori face in the health system.

Aotearoa's 20 district health boards are set to be scrapped as part of major reforms and will be replaced by one new body - Health NZ.

The Māori Health Authority will work alongside Health NZ with a joint role - commissioning for primary, community and kaupapa Māori services.

Reporter Matai O'Connor met some of those who will be involved.
