Epidemiologist Professor Rod Jackson says Auckland’s move to alert level 3 is the right decision.
Both levels 3 and 4 are designed to stamp out the virus, he said. And he is convinced we still have to stamp out Delta, and moving to level 3 is not saying goodbye to elimination.
Professor Jackson thinks going from level 3 to level 4 could be likely for NZ if vaccination coverage is not well above 90 percent.
He does not think we should go to level 1 anywhere in NZ until there is over 95 percent vaccination of eligible population.
