Assoc Health Minister on Covid-19 cases, pensioners in AUS

From Checkpoint, 5:20 pm on 16 September 2021

Regarding the truck driver who tested positive for Covid-19, Associate Health Minister Dr Ayesha Verrall told Checkpoint if there are any locations of interest to come from the truck driver's travel, they'll be announced soon, but there might not be any, as people who leave alert level 4 are advised to take their level with them.

On the issue of NZ pensioners stuck in Australia, Minister for Seniors Ayesha Verrall told Checkpoint the closure of the trans-Tasman bubble does not qualify as an unforeseeable event.

"The situation with the law for superannuation is it can only be paid to people overseas for seven months. So, you can imagine if someone went in the trans-Tasman bubble about mid October that that could be an issue for them."
