The international sailing regatta was headed for Lyttelton in January, but they have been denied managed isolation spots.
Eight teams were coming, including one headed up by Peter Burling and Blair Tuke.
Karl Budge is the New Zealand commercial director and says with no MIQ the event cannot come here in January.
