International arrivals to NZ in 2022: How will it work at airports?

From Checkpoint, 5:22 pm on 13 August 2021

Part of the puzzle of reconnecting to the world is how international arrivals are going to be filtered into the country.

Under the government's plan, the drawbridge will be lowered in the first few months of next year.

But arrivals will be split into three groups, depending on where they're coming from.

Those from low risk countries will be free to roam, medium risk will have a shorter MIQ stay, or a home self-isolation set up, and those from high risk countries will be straight on a bus to MIQ.

So in practical terms will that actually work?

Adrian Littlewood is chief executive at Auckland Airport and joins Lisa Owen with the details.
